There are apps called RED PHONE APP that allows you to make end-to-end encrypted phone calls over wi-fi or mobile data connection using your normal phone number. Both parties should have app to make secure calls . For Iphone users there is an alternate available app called Signal app which is fully compatible with RED phone app.

Now let’s learn how to use it :

Redphone app

  • Tap on the name of the person you wish to make secure call and the REDPHONE app will automatically create a secure line for you . And person on other side of phone gets displayed giving them a chance of either accept or reject the calls.
  • To prevent impersonation of the person on the other end or any man i.e the middle style interception attacks , the red phone app displays the same pairs of words on the screen of both parties . So you can authenticate the identify of the person on the other end by saying the first word and asking them to speak the second .If both are having correct pair of words , then you know there is no impersonation taking place.
